Gaston Residential Services was established in 1975 to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, both in residential and community settings.
Additional Board (not pictured): Joanne Mitchell, John Russell, Karen Morgan, Jim Kellogg, Selina Lee, Janet Layne and Alice Carpenter.
The GRS Advisory Council was developed as a result of the Board of Directors’ desire to include people who served in the management of Gaston Residential Services. The Advisory Council reports to the Board of Directors. The GRS Advisory Council’s organizational meeting occurred in February, 2009. Since then, the group has consistently met monthly.
Council members have been active collaborators in GRS Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement projects, assisted in providing the City of Gastonia with a report on city curb cuts needing repair, participated in GRS Safety and Accessibility Committees, and educated themselves and all persons served about rights, about politics, and about employment for people with disabilities.
Staff and Volunteers play an important role in the lives of the individuals we serve. By spending time together, whether it’s attending community events, exploring hobbies, or simply building a connection, you help create meaningful experiences and a stronger sense of belonging. We’re looking for people who share our passion for making a strong community even better. If you’re driven by purpose and want to make a meaningful impact, you’ll fit right in!
This includes encouraging participation in meaningful community activities like employment, volunteering, and personal interests while also providing a safe, supportive home environment. With 24-hour support, we focus on building skills, confidence, and opportunities for each person to thrive and stay connected to their community. Explore current openings on our Careers Portal.
